The Orange Healthy Community Action Team (Orange HCAT) is a collaboration of like-minded organizations, agencies, and community members who are dedicated to targeting youth obesity prevention in Orange County. This collaboration was made possible with funding from the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth. Membership consists of Darnell’s Garden Patch, Love Outreach Food Pantry, Orange Baptist Church, Orange County Office on Youth, Orange County Parks and Recreation, University of Virginia Pediatrics at Orange, and Virginia Cooperative Extension/4-H: Orange Office, as well as local parent, Ashley Jacobs.
The goal of the Orange HCAT is to break barriers to healthy childhoods by establishing a visible and impactful collaboration which works together to share messages for accessible healthy opportunities and a physically active community in Orange County, Virginia. The Orange HCAT looks forward to making more fresh produce options and interactive educational opportunities, as well as more outdoor/physical activity opportunities, available to Orange County Youth!
