Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Orange County’s Office on Youth and Department of Social Services are again partnering to help raise awareness of the role we can all play in ensuring great childhoods for all children. There are two ways to show your support - Pinwheel Gardens and Wear Blue Day!
PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION
The planting of pinwheel “gardens” by organizations, schools and businesses throughout Virginia. The pinwheel is the shared symbol for child abuse prevention and reflects childhood hope, health, and happiness. The Orange County Department of Social Services and Office on Youth will be asking businesses and citizens to purchase and plant pinwheel gardens to be placed in highly visible areas of Orange County. These gardens are available for $25, and each participating organization, business, or individual will receive a 5X5 garden consisting of 25 pinwheels and a sign that provides the Virginia Child Abuse Hotline. Please print and send in the order form below to reserve your Pinwheel Garden today. Sales end March 10th, 2023.
Pinwheel Garden Order Form - payments can be made by cash, check, or credit (credit card information is listed on the order form)
WEAR BLUE DAY
Blue is the official color of child abuse and neglect prevention and on April 1st, 2023, friends and advocates across Virginia will wear blue to represent their support of child abuse prevention month. Challenge your friends to wear blue and take a picture to share on your social media page and tag the Office on Youth. More details will come as the day gets closer!
