About Us
The Department of Fire and EMS has employees staffing several stations full-time. Services provided by the department include: advanced emergency medical health care, EMS training, fire suppression, fire investigations, hazardous materials coordination, and emergency management.
Emergency Medical Services: The department provides 24 hour advanced emergency medical care. All ambulances are staffed by advanced life support personnel who have been thoroughly vetted for their ability to provide the best medical care possible. The process of providing and maintaining the highest levels of care for our patients is enhanced by our 100% quality review standards, and continued training.
EMS Training: The department provides ongoing training for all of its EMS providers from First Responders to Paramedics. Additionally, we provide CPR and First Aid training to our local public safety partners.
Firefighting: All of our employees are trained and certified firefighters. To enhance and support the county's vibrant volunteer fire service, some of our employees staff fire apparatus in addition to ambulances.
Fire Prevention: The County has appointed a "Fire Marshal" to perform investigations into fires, explosions, hazardous materials, and environmental crimes. Additionally, the fire marshal is assigned the responsibility to coordinate hazardous materials planning, response, recovery, and mitigation.
Emergency Management: The Office of Emergency Management has been incorporated into the Department of Fire and EMS. The Department Fire Chief is also the County's Emergency Management Coordinator. Emergency Management maintains the County's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), manages the local Emergency Operation Center (EOC), and coordinates local, state and federal resources during declared local emergencies.
