About Court Security
The Sheriff's Office Court Security Division is responsible for the security of all courts. Deputies assigned to this division perform a variety of functions, including courtroom security, the transportation of convicted inmates and pre-trial detainees to and from court, the intake and processing of defendants remanded to custody, and the screening of persons and parcels entering the courthouse.
Deputies assigned as bailiffs are responsible for the protection of life and property for judges, court personnel, attorneys, citizens, and prisoners. Bailiffs make sure court proceedings take place in a safe and orderly manner.
The Civil Process Division
The Civil Process Division is responsible for the serving of court papers issued from all Virginia State courts and those processes issued from other states, being served in Orange County. Civil Process is tasked with executing warrants, evictions, repossessions, levies, sheriff sales, extraditions, and providing assistance to the patrol deputies when necessary. The Civil Process Division is charged with the delivery of processes in a timely and efficient manner.
